Selected dues-paying members of the IUSSI-NAS who plan to give either an oral or poster presentation at the conference will receive travel grants of $1500 each. We will consider applications from early career professionals and postdocs, but will prioritize applications from grad students, undergraduates, and postdoctoral applicants who are within 12 months of having defended their thesis. We anticipate being able to fund a minimum of 20 applicants.
Priority will be given to applicants planning to make oral presentations, who can use the conference most effectively for professional advancement and engagement. Applicants will be selected to ensure a diversity of genders, ethnicities, study systems and questions, and geographic locations, and will span primarily teaching colleges and research universities.
To apply, please provide:
- Cover letter, introducing yourself and how you will use this conference most effectively for professional advancement and engagement.
- Title and abstract of the planned presentation
- Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Description of additional sources of funding
- Letter of support from your current or former primary advisor
Applications are due by February 23, 2018. Applicants should submit all materials (except letter of support) in a single compiled pdf to Chris Smith (email@example.com), Chair of the IUSSI-NAS Awards Committee. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Prioritization of funding will be determined by the Awards Committee. Merit will be based on quality and relevance of the work, and financial need. Recipients will be notified by April 15 (before the deadline for early bird registration).
