Two PhD Scholarships – Investigating Invasive Bumblebee Ecology in Tasmania
Application Deadline: Saturday, November 30th
Project Overview
This project employs cutting-edge technologies, including radio tracking and neuromorphic AI-powered camera traps, to collect comprehensive, unbiased data on the impacts of Bombus terrestris on Tasmanian agricultural systems and ecosystems. The findings will support Tasmanian industry and government stakeholders in decision-making processes regarding whether to support or eradicate local bumblebee populations.
Ideal Candidates
Highly motivated applicants with a strong background in ecology, invasive species research, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Experience with bumblebee research, particularly in North America, is highly desirable. Candidates with expertise in advanced technologies such as AI-based monitoring systems or radio telemetry are particularly well-suited for these positions.
Spread the Word
Colleagues and institutions are encouraged to share this opportunity with students or researchers who may be interested in contributing to this important research on invasive species management in Tasmania.
