Dear IUSSI-NAS members,
It’s that time of year again, to elect new leadership for the society!!
This year, we are seeking nominations for President-Elect, 2 seats on the Awards Committee, 2 seats on the Social Media Committee, 1 seats on the Elections Committee, and 1 seat on the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Committee.
Please nominate yourself or other members who you feel would be well qualified for the job (self-nominations are very much encouraged). Please fill out this nomination form (https://forms.gle/DdxBQYnqgaJzFy3w6) by October 12th 2025.
You may fill the form as many times as you’d like – each nomination requires filling the form again. The more nominations the better!

1. President-elect for IUSSI-NAS. The President-Elect serves on the Executive Committee for 3 years; first as President-Elect, then President, then as former President. Duties of the President-Elect and President include presiding over the IUSSI-NAS annual business meeting, making changes to society by-laws as agreed upon by the society, and working with the Elections Committee for future elections of officers. Other (optional) duties have included seeking funds to support travel to IUSSI conferences, helping to organize symposia at IUSSI and ESA meetings, and organizing social gatherings after section business meetings. The President-elect will join Anna Dornhaus and Chris Smith, as James Nieh rotates off.
2. Awards Committee Member (2 positions). The new members of the Awards Committee will join the four current members Scott Powell, Natalie Lemanski, Mal Hagadorm, and Alex Payne to oversee the administration of all awards for the Section, as Elizabeth Tibbetts & Joshua King rotate off the committee. The Awards Committee is responsible for soliciting and ranking nominations, selecting and notifying the awardees, and announcing the award to members. This is a 3-year commitment.
3. Elections Committee Member (1 position). We are seeking nominations to fill a seat on the Elections Committee as Noa Pinter-Wollman rotates off. The new member of the Elections Committee will join the current members, Cassondra Venier and Arian Avalos, in organizing elections for various positions in the leadership of NAS-IUSSI. This is a 3-year commitment.
4. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Committee Member (1 position): We are seeking nominations to fill an empty seat on the DEIJ committee, as Amy Toth rotates off. The new member of the DEIJ Committee will join Kaitlin Baudier and Erika Ibarra-Garibay. This is a 3-year commitment.
5. Social Media Committee (2 positions): We are seeking nominations to fill two seats on the Social Media Committee as Andrew Legan rotates off. The elected members will join Horace Zeng, to post relevant events, job announcements, grant opportunities, recent research, social insect biology content, etc. and solicit from the membership “profile highlights” to share with members/followers, on active IUSSI-NAS social media platforms. This is a 3-year commitment.
