Dr. Rodolfo da Silva Probst is recruiting Ph.D. students to join the Department of Entomology and Nematology at the University of California, Davis, beginning Fall 2026.
Dr. Probst’s research program investigates the evolutionary and genomic mechanisms that shape mutualistic interactions, with a particular focus on ant–plant symbioses and the comparative genomics of Formicinae ants.
Launching in March 2026, the Probst Lab will integrate fieldwork, genomics, phylogenetics, and systematics to explore how ants evolve, diversify, and adapt to environmental change. A complementary research line will examine ant–hemipteran associations in California’s agroecosystems, emphasizing invasion biology and the ecological genomics of symbiosis.
Students with a passion for ants, mutualisms, or evolutionary biology are especially encouraged to apply!
