The Mizumoto Lab is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for an NSF-funded project on the evolution of termite collective behavior and nest building.
The project combines video analysis, data-driven modeling, and phylogenetic comparative methods to study how individual behavior produces collective patterns and how these processes evolve. The postdoc will have flexibility to develop new questions and shape the research direction.
Applicants should have a PhD by the start date and an interest in animal behavior and evolution. Quantitative or computational experience is especially welcome. Experience with termites or social insects is not required.
The anticipated start is in 2027, with flexible timing. The position is expected to be available for up to three years.
To apply, email a CV with links to papers or preprints and a brief statement of research interests, relevant experience, and interest in the position to nzm0095@auburn.edu.
First review begins December 22, 2026; applications will be considered until the position is filled.
